Help pay medical bills for Ridge Atlas Carlton

Hi my name is Rebecca Bodeis and I would like to tell you why I am doing a fundraiser for this amazing couple and their beautiful little boy, Ridge Atlas Carlton.

Korey started off her pregnancy being sick and it stuck with her the entire time. Due to this she missed almost all work for the entire 9 months. However, even with her being so sick, all scans and tests showed that they were going to have a healthy baby boy. There were no signs of any medical issues at any time for baby Ridge.

 A few weeks before giving birth, Korey contracted Covid-19 where she became very ill once again and ended up in the ER. This put stress on both momma and baby, putting them at high risk. She was closely monitored and had weekly stress tests to make sure Ridge was ok. They were watching his organs and making sure they were functioning as they should have been. 

On the day of his birth everything seemed to be going as it was supposed to. The only complications were, Korey's epidural did not work and after having many of them, she started having issues with her blood pressure. It would drop causing her unconsciousness. 

When Ridge was born after 20 hours of labor. Drs. immediately started working on him and took him straight to the NICU. It was then decided that they needed to do the surgery as he was not able to breathe on his own. Ridge was born with moderate perimembranous VS, multiple small muscular VSD's, a secundum ASD, and a short, broad PDA with dilated pulmonary arteries with significant heart failure and end organ dysfunction.

He was eventually transferred to U of M, where he begin to crash, several times.. it took over 16 doctors & nurses to bring him back. They ended up having to doing emergency open heart surgery on him. 

Things are looking up for him as the surgery has helped. He is receiving respiratory therapy and will remain on the breathing tube a bit longer. He has many weeks of hospital stays in Ann Arbor for recovery. He is expected to have another surgery in 6 months. They have also found masses on his brain and liver which have not been dealt with yet. 

This amazing family could really use your help. With things like loss of being able to work, travel expenses to the hospital & doctors visits, medical bills, medical supplies & more.
