Help Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue get a ICU Unit

Most people that know me know about my love of Hedgehogs and that I am now a Hedgehog Fosterer for Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue. I have started this page as we are in desperate need for 2  ICU unit's and any donations would be greatly received, please see below some information and background about Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue and what we have achieved so far

DHR was set up in August 2021 by Rachel and Dom , sharing the love for Hedgehogs they realised that there was a need for a local hedgehog rescue in this area . Starting in a shed in their back garden it soon became apparent the demand was there . Call's from the general public kept coming and 2 hedgehogs turned into 15 very quickly. The shed became full and Rachel and Dom ended up having to use the spare room in their house to accommodate the demand. DHR now have raised enough funds for a new and bigger shed which arrives in March and are continuing to grow. Rachel and Dom now have a team of 3 volunteers and myself and support of two local veterinary surgeries who are incredibly supportive of the work we do.

Hedgehogs are facing so many hurdles just to survive due to loss of habitat and hedgerows they are now on the Red List classed as vulnerable to extinction. Due to the decline in Hedgehogs and the amount that need help rescues are becoming more and more critical.

DHR are thankful and have been blessed already by donations, enabling us to fully set up and provide the care that these little prickly mammals need. Most Hedgehogs coming into care are dehydrated and hypothermic, so incubators are invaluable to us. It would be amazing and our dream if we could raise enough funds to invest in two Brinsea Eco Brooder's! These are fantastic purpose built intensive care / recovery units. Providing accommodation with controlled constant temperatures is imperative in helping some of the most vulnerable hedgehogs that come into us.
