Help David Boulton Wonboyn Bushfire Fundraiser

David Boulton has tragically lost his house and possessions in the Border Fire which has impacted Wonboyn, Kiah, Narrabarba and surrounding areas.

A 52,000 hectare fire tore through Wonboyn, isolating as many as 30 people in the small village. Wonboyn and North Wonboyn came under direct attack and 4 houses were destroyed, two of those belonged to people who stayed to fight the fires. One of these houses belonged to Dave.

He has lost everything except for his dog Dax, some belongings, keepsakes and his car which had been left at the fire shed.


Over the last few years he has worked so hard to renovate both his kitchen and bathroom, planning for his retirement and future. He does have insurance on the house, but whether it was updated after the renovations is unknown. This is why he is absolutely heartbroken as it is not just a 'house', he has spent years creating his dream home.

Dave is a wonderful member of the local community who tirelessly helps the region out by volunteering his services. He is a life member of the RFS and the Sapphire Coast AFL. Over the years, he has volunteered teaching debutantes to dance and has participated in the local Dancing With The Stars - 'Stars of Bega Valley' Dance for Cancer where he has been a teacher to a local raising money for cancer.

He has been a 'go-to' man in Wonboyn for all of the holiday house owners since he moved there in 1987, where he bought the shop, but has continued to do this for many families who have been apart of the community for years.  He had this business to be able to raise his children and to be there for them when they returned home from school. He also worked at Eden High School, starting in 1998, up to his retirement.
