Help Darrell with his medical expenses

As Darrell’s colleagues and close friends, we’re reaching out to let you know that we’ve kicked off a campaign to help Darrell and his family, and we need your help.

You may have heard that Darrell has severe degenerative disc disease throughout his C-Spine and requires extensive surgery. Unfortunately, continuing to wait for the medical system in Canada is not an option as the situation has become dire. To further complicate things, insurance is also not an option. It will cost Darrell more than $100,000 to travel to Germany for the operation.

Darrell’s quality of life has been extremely impacted, preventing him from performing the most routine daily tasks, which is devastating to him, his daughter, and his family.

With this surgery, the prognosis is good in terms of removing risk of irreparable damage to the spinal cord as well as preventing further decline to his functionality. Additionally, this surgery will allow the affected nerves the opportunity to heal, if possible. At this point, there are no other options for a chance with the same outcome. The results of a surgery in Canada, even if he can get a confirmed date in time, are far inferior to the results that can be achieved through a more advanced procedure in Germany. If Darrell is to have hope for resumed quality of life going to Germany is the only option.

Our aim is to help ease the financial burden and resultant stress that Darrell is facing. Our goal is to raise enough to pay back the bank.
