Help Dante get his cochlear implant
Donation protected
As many of you are aware, one of my twins, Dante, was born deaf. After research and weighing all options, we decided to grant him the gift of hearing, via cochlear implants. This procedure included extensive brain surgery and was not an easy, thoughtless, decision.
As you can imagine, as with any little boy, over the last 8 years, we have spent thousands of dollars, out of pocket, to replace lost or damaged “ears”, batteries, broken wires, etc. I have been a teacher for 10 years and feel horrible when I have to wait to buy a necessity
for his "ears" because we are low on funds.
Cochlear has advanced over the years and now the “ears” Dante has are obsolete. Our only option is to upgrade to the new version of cochlear, costing over $6,000 AFTER INSURANCE COVERAGE'S. No payment plans are accepted. We’ve already changed our phones from Android to iPhone, as the cochlear now are compatible with their devices and will upgrade as such, hopefully making this the final purchase for Dante’s hearing needs. Currently, Dante has loaner ears from cochlear and at any time they can require their return, leaving him with nothing. Not being able to hear at all will be a major set-back, as he will not be able to fully communicate. We all are learning sign language however Dante LOVES to hear and has a break down when his "ears" are not working.
Please help us give Dante back the gift of hearing!! Anything helps. Thank you!
