Help Dan Little Replace Stolen Camera Equipment

Donation protected

Many of us in the local music and arts community know Dan Little. He is a supportive member of the local arts scene who has used his artistry as a photographer to amplify and share the multi-arts work of our special community with a wider national and international audience. In his words:

"I've worked as a photojournalist for the past 10 years, doing my best to document and tell the stories of the communities I've lived in. I strive to capture defining moments, whether it's a peak action sports photo, the subtle change of a facial expression or when the light catches something just right. For the last 4 years I've been in Greenfield working at The Recorder. I was laid off like so many others at the beginning of the pandemic. I started freelancing doing event coverage, weddings and portraiture to try and pay the bills. I dove into underwater photography to search for new ways of creating art and interacting with people and nature. Without steady work though I can't suffer any equipment losses and still make a living as a photographer, especially not something as essential as a computer. Photography is what has kept me going through all of this and I don't want to abandon it any time soon. "

Recently, Dan encountered an unfortunate series of events, which resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars of camera equipment...

"While visiting a friend in California, we stopped for dinner in San Francisco before heading to the airport for me to leave. We came back to their car to find the windows smashed and two of our bags stolen from the trunk, mine being my carry-on bag filled with my underwater camera equipment and my laptop. My friend filed a police report, but has so far yielded no information. Hopefully their car insurance will cover the items they lost. I had to catch my flight immediately afterward and have been helpless to do anything while back in Mass since."

"The equipment that was stolen was a backpack filled with all of my most important things to take on the plane with me. My laptop, memory card and hard drive, containing a year's worth of personal and professional photos including a wedding that the couple hadn't received photos for yet. And then my underwater equipment which consisted of multiple waterproof housings for my camera and phone. I had pieced all the equipment together over years so I didn't realize how much it all cost until I totaled it which ended up being over $6000 to replace everything."

HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN:

PLEASE consider sharing this GOFUNDME far and wide. Every penny counts. Let's help dan recoup his losses so he can continue to support our local arts scene with his photo journalism. Placemaking is a collective effort. Dan's photos put the artistic vision and wealth of Western-Mass on the MAP. True and sustainable artistic success is possible when we all support each other.
