Help Dametres Perkins Fight Stage 3 Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Antonia and I am Dametres’ younger sister. As some of you know, my sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 years old. We originally thought it was stage 2 but we found out from her oncologist that it is stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma. This means that the cancer started as tumors in her breast but has now traveled to many of her lymph nodes, and has infected her breast tissue all the way through to her chest muscle. We are very worried about her.

If anyone knows my sister, you know how passionate she is about helping people. Dametres is my best friend and has always been a role model for me and so many others. For over 10 years she has been working with children and teenagers who were victims of violence, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. Hundreds of the girls she worked with were incarcerated in juvenile detentions with no family support. She always put everyone else first, working late hours and weekends to do anything she could for those kids, while also being a wife and mother. A few years ago, she opened a therapy practice called Reclaiming Your Power where she helps women who have survived domestic violence, rape, and trauma. There have been times when she has called me in tears because she was so mentally exhausted and emotionally impacted by her clients’ stories. She built her business all on her own and last year started teaching at a university. She told me that she fell in love with teaching and was so excited to help mentor future therapists going into this work.

Now my sister is not working and will receive chemotherapy and other targeted cancer treatments for the next year. She will also need to have breast surgery and radiation. She was the main breadwinner in her family and now can no longer provide for her two boys Jack and Avi. If you know my brother-in-law Sam, you know he will always do everything he can to provide and take care of all of them. But this will be a huge blow to their finances and we really want to help them through this. They live in Massachusetts, away from all of us, and the cost of living is very expensive up there. We’re hoping to relieve some of the major financial stress that she has been feeling so she can actually focus on herself and fight for her life. Any money we raise can help them with paying their rent, daycare, groceries, medical bills, travel costs, diapers and baby supplies, household items, pet supplies for their dog and cat, and more.

Any amount you can donate will make a difference. If you cannot donate at this time, please share this page with others in your life. Thank you so much to everyone, and please keep my sister in your prayers.
