Help Clinton UMC Build a Prayer Garden

We are the Trustee Board of Clinton United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Clinton, Maryland. Our plan is to build a Prayer Garden to serve the greater body of Christ in our community. The Prayer Garden will be open to everyone to pray, meditate, reflect, or spend quiet time with God because when we experience a crisis and our faith is tested, we turn to God and our church for help. The Prayer Garden endeavor will emphasize our vision statement, “to be a church without walls and grow disciples…” CUMC has approximately 125 members and was built in October 1965.

In response to the effects of the COVID pandemic and our goal to increase the church’s presence in the community, we have started this fundraiser. With your generous support, we are looking to build the community Prayer Garden and repair the church’s parking lot to improve handicap accessibility to the garden. This plan began as an idea in October 2020 and is now in progress with the kickoff of this fundraiser. We hope to start the construction in the spring of 2022—and complete the project by the end of summer—to enhance outdoor worship.

The CUMC Prayer Garden will be located on the west lawn of the church’s grounds, strategically built around the existing three crosses. Plans for the Prayer Garden will include a 6’ wide, wheelchair-accessible, commemorative brick walkway that leads to and around the Prayer Garden. The Garden will also include four to five garden benches for seating near the crosses, a wide variety of flowers and plants that, ideally, are native to the region, and solar-powered, pathway lights and up-lighting fixtures to illuminate the walkway and the center cross at night.
