Help Clara win the battle against Leukemia!

Dear Friends and Family,

Clara Wright, of High River, Alberta, has recently been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer originating in the bone-marrow that requires intensive and concentrated treatment. Presently, Clara is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre at the Foothills Hospital.

During this first phase of treatment, Clara must remain in the hospital for at least a month as she will be experiencing serious side effects, including extensive bruising, extreme fatigue, and shortness of breath, as well as an increased risk of infection. If this first phase of treatment is successful, Clara will need to follow a maintenance program of recurring chemo treatments and platelet transfusions that typically lasts for two years, with each treatment cycle followed by a rest period to allow her body time to recover and regain its strength. Even after treatment ends, Clara will continue to need frequent follow-up exams and tests over several years.

As a single parent, with dependent children still at home, Clara will face financial difficulties as she will be unable to work and continue her private cleaning business. Therefore, any monetary donations will be extremely appreciated and will be used to cover her day-to-day living expenses, as well as her travel costs back and forth to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, as she battles this fast-acting and invasive cancer.
