Peace Everyone!
My name is Christa, a holistic full-spectrum community birth worker, and herbalist. Working as a caregiver for over 10 years, I answered the call for birth work and never looked back, jumping straight in to support birthing persons and families on their journey felt so familiar to my humanitarian heart. I found value in myself and my practice along the way, gaining confidence as I learn and collaborate with others along the way. Incorporating traditional herbal work into my practice allows my clients another form of care to utilize as they navigate childbirth and parenthood. I began taking countless courses on childbirth education, lactation, and postpartum support to better my practice, paying for the services with little aid available for birth workers.
My goal is to expand my services by taking more courses, offering my services at a sliding scale for the community, and creating my own coursework to educate even more families. The certifications I hope to attain are childbirth education (CCE), lactation consultant (IBCLC), and continued herbal education. I want to also create a lending library for clients to have access to educational resources throughout all stages of their journey. Contributions will allow me to lower my rates for clients while still being confident I have the stability to support myself, purchase necessary equipment, and acquire the credentials needed to grow my business.
Applying the lessons I have learned along the way I created my business Altalune Mystics with the intention to offer my services to the BIPOC community, to do my part in healing the healthcare crisis of our people. My business focuses not just on labor and delivery, but support across the board no matter where you find yourself in the birth/postpartum journey. As a student of psychology, I have acquired many skills to better emotionally support clients such as trauma-informed care and family advocacy. Skills I use each time I am aligned with a client and assist them in their birth journey. I am asking for the support of the community as I continue to learn and grow as a birth worker so that I may continue to serve and make a positive change for generations to come.
