Hard times have fallen on Our Good Friend Charlie Waldbaum!!
My name is Chad Cavey and I have been good friends with Charlie since we met at 12 years old playing on the same youth basketball team. Charlie found out in June that he has an aggressive form of brain cancer and has had to quit his job due to his health concerns. I wanted to do something to help take stress off his shoulders so I formed this page as he would really like to maintain his financial independence moving forward for the time he has remaining.
Insurance doesn’t cover a lot of this! Charlie has enough on the table and we don’t want him worrying about going broke on top of trying to beat this.
A lot of us have been very blessed in life so please do what you can to help him and his family to maintain their financial independence so Charlie can stay with us as long as possible.
History-
Charlie grew up going to Village heights Elementary, West Middle School, and then graduated from Creek Class of '85. He went on to CU Boulder before returning to complete his degree at Metropolitan State College of Denver..
Charlie has worked in Sales Management and as a consultant for much of his career. In 2003 he decided to make a life change and moved to Prague, Czech Republic for about 17 years. During that time in Prague, Charlie met his long time companion, Lucy, and had a daughter named Alena. He has been working endlessly to support, love, and care for his family through numerous illnesses for all of them that made things challenging over the years.
Charlie began to have his own health problems and that is what brought him back to the US to see if our health care system could get him back on track, so he could build a new life here and move his family here as soon as "life" stabilized. Though his health seemed to be improving, doctors recently found a rapidly growing tumor in his left frontal lobe (Glioma) that requires immediate chemo & radiation and making it impossible to provide for his family, let alone the expense of moving "the Girls" here.
Charlie worked as much as he could and is only leaving his job now due to his diminished health as those long days became to strenuous and unsustainable.
Please do everything you can to help us surpass our goal of $30000, for medical expenses and ongoing monthly life expenses.(insurance only covers a % of his medical bills long term) Charlie will have bills rolling in and without the ability to work, we aim to help him sustain his financial stability with this fundraiser. Help Charlie through this incredibly difficult time and let’s take the financial stress and burden off his shoulders so he can concentrate on his health, as we all want him to stay here with us as long as he possibly can!!!
