Help Charles Stevens rebuild his home

Donation protected

We are in desperate need for help rebuilding our dear friend Chucks’(Charles Stevens) home and property. He left his home at 5:00AM on Saturday morning expecting to go home in the evening, not aware that this was the last time he’d see his home again. His home was lost on Saturday, September 5th due to the Valley Fire in Jamul, California and we are left trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild from scratch. Not only his home but everything he owns, his vehicles, his jet ski, his storage container full of lifelong collections of items. The items always can be replaced but the memories tied to looking at these items will be lost forever. The time and place where they were bought, the friends made during these encounters, the conversations, all sadly will perish over time. He has a massive
hole in his heart and as a community we can fill it with love and warmth again. We can pick up the pieces and make him whole again. He needs help and deserves a place he can call home.

Who is he? He was a rebellious boy born in Missoula Montana. So rebellious that the mayor and police knew him on a first name basis. He was so rebellious that they kicked him out of the state (some real Jesse James stuff, minus the robbery and murder of course) and luckily for us he decided to call San Diego County his home. He moved here in 1974 when he was just 16 years old and worked many different tradesmen jobs before settling down as a Glazier. Beginning his career working with my dad and his friend Bill Heck at Center Glass. He now works side by side daily with my dad and me at Sunset Glazing. He was so close with our family that when my grandma lost her husband around 2006 he offered to give her a place to live. She moved in and this relationship built day by day until they started dating and eventually fell in love. They continued dating but sadly on Friday, April 13 of 2018(yes, Friday the 13th) she suddenly took her last breath. He was heartbroken as were we and he was again alone, crushed and searching for meaning. To say he was crushed would be an understatement, he was left broken and trying to find the pieces to rebuild himself. The good news is he is tough and resilient and started to regain the twinkle in his eye that was once apparent. Then the Valley Fire hit and once again reminded him that all can be lost again. Hopefully, with your help we can help him pick up the pieces and find himself again.

Who am I? I am Jason Kiever, our family met him in 1988. He worked with my dad and became more than a friend to us. We call him family. My wife and I call him grandpa Chuck. My kids call him grandpa Chuck. He hangs out in my dads “man cave” everyday after work. He’s so close to our family that he actually began dating my grandma in 2008. He continued to date her until she took her last breath on April 13 of 2018. Friday the 13th...He’s one of the most selfless men I’ve ever met and if I can help in any way I’m going to do it. We need you and he deserves the support and the ability to put the broken pieces of his heart and home back together.
