Help Chantaé Complete Her Training at Juilliard
Hi all! I have succeeded in putting myself through my first 3 years of Juilliard, but am in need of assistance for my final year.
Since 2019 I have been training as an actor in the Drama Division at Juilliard, where I’ve had the privilege to work alongside amazing artists, world-class faculty, and have established creative and interpersonal relationships to last a lifetime.
Having just completed my work as the titular role in Eisa Davis’ “Bulrusher”, I am now working as a performer and co-divisor in the Student-Initiated Project “An Interdisciplinary Artistic Exploration on Black Women and Love”. Both projects, in their intent to acknowledge and celebrate the experience of Black life & love, have been meaningful supplements to my passion for social justice and my on-going work in community organizing and activism.
For the past year and a half (while continuing my education at School) I have been working in and with many social justice organizations, marching daily, organizing, supporting the families of those lost to racism and police brutality, and a myriad of other things. However, my work in that field will always, always be on a volunteer basis.
Post graduation, I would like to continue my acting work on a higher level, and follow my dreams in expanding my ambitions toward directing and producing for film and TV, as well. In order to get there, however, I will need to complete my time at Juilliard. And as of right now, that will not be possible without substantial support (I have taken on as much work-study as I can with the confines of the 6 day/week Drama schedule). While the fundraising goal will cover nowhere near the cost of both tuition and living in New York, I am so, so grateful for any support given.
I love my work and I love my community, and so my gratitude to any and all who can offer their support in helping me stay so I can continue on my journey cannot possibly be overstated.
Love,
Chantaé
