Help Celina with the costs of her son's funeral

Celina Williams is an amazing mother of three children and two grandchildren. Often working two jobs, or volunteering for extra shifts, she is a walking poster for hard-working single mothers who do anything to care for their children. This is evident by her decision to leave her home and family in Chicago years ago to raise her children in a much safer environment. Though there were some rough patches in the beginning, things started to get better until something tragically happened on August 8, 2019. As her oldest son, Jason, and a friend were walking back from the store, they encountered a few people in the tail end of an altercation. One of the men in the argument walked off only to return with a gun which he fired off indiscriminately. After police responded, two officers were wounded in a firefight that stopped the suspect. But after the smoke cleared, Jason, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, was hit by a stray bullet and fatally wounded.

As I write this, I feel anger and confusion for realizing that even those who try to do everything right are at risk of the negative effects of those who choose to do wrong. No mother should ever have to bury her child! Jason lives on through his two baby boys that now must be raised by Celina. As she attempts to pick up the pieces, we pray for her family and Jason, the wounded police officers, and the victims of gun violence all over the country. Her life has been changed forever, but through faith, she believes that she’ll make it.
