Help Carl say goodbye to his father.

This is very difficult for me to share.

A part of me did not want to share with anyone what had happened because I was worried about how people would look at at my son, at us. If you know Carl you
know how kind, selfless,generous and
thoughtful is. He’s very loving and to see him broken is killing me.  But he’s also
resilient and I know with time he will be back to something of his own self again.
I can’t say at this time if he will ever be
the same. Losing a parent at 8 is hard but to lose them to murder is traumatic.
The photo above is what my son wrote
down because he couldn’t put into words why he was crying when his grandmother asked him.
His father was murdered in South Africa of the 5th of December. It took two
months for the dna results to come back. At the time I had not told my son that his father had been killed. I wanted to know how to tell him without traumatising him if I could help it. An organisation called Winston’s Wish was very helpful in
preparing me for that difficult task. 

It was the hardest thing I’ve had to do
and watching my son breakdown and
grieve all over again nearly broke me.  

Covid and financial constraints meant we could not  travel for the funeral and his father couldn’t be buried where he had requested. He was interred temporarily in South Africa but will be buried later in Zimbabwe  and I’d like to take my son so he can say goodbye in person. 

He won’t be able to see him again but he will be able to say goodbye in his own
way. Thank you for taking the time to
