Help Cali the Fire Dog

Cali the Fire Dog is headed to Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center for much needed surgery. Cali was diagnosed with Insulinoma, a fast-growing pancreatic cancer that must be taken care of as soon as possible for it not to spread. Without surgery, local vets have given Cali a possible life expectancy of 6 months.

Cali the Fire Dog and her firefighter dad, Yolla Montalbin, have been a huge part of the Humboldt Bay Fire educational community, going to local schools and events, teaching children and adults what to do in an emergency fire situation. She has shown many children how to stop drop and roll, crawl to the phone in a fire emergency, dial 911, and even teach how to do CPR on your dog.

Children who have met Cali, on or off-duty, see her and say with excitement, “Is that Cali the FIRE DOG”?  We want to be able to hear that for years to come and for Cali to continue to share her love and knowledge with the community. This surgery is a must to keep Cali with us.  It comes with expensive testing and major surgery. The vets’ estimation for this procedure came to $7,000+.  Please help us save Cali.  She has so much more to give our community. Any help is much appreciated.  Thank you.
