UPDATE 1:
Wow! Thank you so much to everyone for the outpouring of support! We have been blown away by your kindness and generosity. <3

I wanted to chime in with a quick update that my parents have asked not to be included in the fundraising effort and would prefer to cover most of my medical bills themselves which is very generous of them. I have lowered our goal amount and changed the language below to reflect their extra help! More specifics are below!

Hi everyone,

As many of you are aware, in late May of 2021 I was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer, and the whirlwind began. I needed the works: chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy to beat this thing and it's been kicking my ass as much as I've been kicking its ass.

Caleb and I were hoping to avoid doing one of these and to make it through treatment without financial help, but it has gotten to the point where we just can't do it anymore.

Caleb has been on unemployment assistance since the pandemic began when he was laid off. When I was diagnosed we were extremely fortunate to have that assistance so that he could stay home and take care of me during chemotherapy (and also not risk contracting COVID in a work-setting). That unemployment assistance is ending on September 4th, at which point he will have no income. Caleb has been searching for a job to make sure we can pay the bills, but so far has had no luck finding one. Normally, I would lend him the money from my savings, but I had just bought our condo in early May I had drained most of my savings to do so. Unfortunately, I have not been able to recuperate it during my cancer treatment. September 4th is coming up so fast and we are very nervous about paying our mortgage and keeping up with my care expenses.

What we collect with this GoFundMe will go to Caleb and I to cover things like my appointment co-pays, our mortgage, utilities, and groceries for the next few months as I continue to go through treatment.

If you are unable to contribute monetarily, but would like to do so in some other form please check out my Caring Bridge planner: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/corinne-elicona/planner where we will be organizing meal-trains and other care. In mid-October I will be undergoing surgery that will leave me unable to move or lift anything for about six weeks. I'll need company, help with household tasks, and even help getting out of bed!

I've been blown away by the love and positivity people have been showering me with since my diagnosis. Thank you all so much for your support.

Corinne & Caleb
