Help Build our Community Recycling Center

We are seeking donations to build and operate the Greater Laingsburg Community Recycling Center (GLCRC).
Over the past 31 years, the Greater Laingsburg Recyclers (GLR) has accepted millions of pounds of waste that would have otherwise made its way to landfills. But we can’t continue working out of a storage shed. The GLR needs a new, permanent facility that will allow us to improve and expand recycling where workers and participants can (finally!) be sheltered from sun and rain, wind and snow.
The GLR, along with its partners, the City of Laingsburg and the Laingsburg Community Schools, has initial funding support through a State of Michigan/EGLE grant worth $50,000 to build a Community Recycling Center. This will allow the GLR to increase local recycling opportunities from once per month to two times per week! The 2,400 square-foot center will allow for the quadrupling of its previous recycling capability. This will also provide a location for volunteer participation and for recycling and renewable resources education. Finally, it will bring people to Laingsburg to shop, eat, play and, of course, recycle!
Various local entities, including Shiawassee and Clinton counties, City of Laingsburg, Woodhull and Victor townships, the Cook Family Foundation, and the GLR have already pledged funds. Additional funding is necessary to make our vision come to life. This community-based recycling center will help Laingsburg become a 21st century recycling destination accessible to anyone wishing to use it. And by design, the model of this multi-purpose facility can be replicated by other rural communities within our region and beyond. Our goal is to open the Community Recycling Center for operations in the fall of 2021!
