Helping Build K9 Community Center

When Academy Dog Training by Haywood moved to Silver Spring Maryland in 2009, we committed ourselves to the mission of maximizing the quality of life for dogs and their respective families. Every month, we are seeing an increasing number of dogs adopted from shelters, foster homes, and other rescue organizations.  Academy Dog Training assists numerous clients who have adopted these dogs, and are seeking to unlock the mysteries of their new pup’s behavior. Many are first-time dog owners in need of foundational knowledge on raising the newest four-legged member of the family. Many of these new adoptees have behavioral issues that thwart their harmonious integration into their new forever homes. These problems range from shyness and separation anxiety, to aggression towards animals or people—including family members.  Modification or resolution of these negative behaviors is most important to ensuring these canine family members don’t end up being returned to shelters—or worse.

We come to work daily, chasing this mission—but now we need YOUR help. Your contribution to our Fund will help secure and renovate a larger facility with indoor training space, better equipped to teach our four-legged and two-legged friends alike. No matter the size, your donation towards our new home will not only improve the lives of adopted canines in the DC Metro area, but also the hundreds of families we tirelessly serve in the greater community.

We need your help to house the bigger vision. September 2018 is our target month to expand into the new facility. Don’t worry—we will still be your favorite neighborhood go to for pet supplies and counseling in the Silver Spring area. The sister location in DC will complement and enhance what is currently provided.  Consider the possibilities!!
