Help Bruce recover from unexpected stroke
Hi
My name is Rob and this is the Bruce Mclean story and why we need your help....
Well known 62 year old golf professional Bruce McLean from Orange NSW suffered as debilitating stroke early Monday morning 26 July 2021. Bruce was on his regular seniors golfing tour of South East Queensland.
At the time Bruce was sleeping rough in his car and felt unwell around 4.30 – 5.00am. He got out of the car and collapsed immediately adjacent to the car. Bruce remained there until approximately 7.00 am when a passer-by noticed him and called the ambulance.
On admittance to Gold Coast Hospital medical staff did not expect him to survive more than a couple of hours. He survived that period and the night which was a critical period.
Bruce does not have private health insurance and has already incurred approximately $15,000 for a private medical air charter flight from Gold Coast University Hospital to Orange Base Hospital on Friday 30th July 2021.
Bruce’s condition has gone from not talking (moaning), not walking, restrictive arm and leg movement. He was unable to open his eye lids and when opened manually has blurred vision.
He now can walk assisted, speech can be understood, understands and comprehends conversation, can feed himself with his eyes shut. He has just moved to the rehab ward in Orange Base Hospital. According to medical staff his progress is remarkable albeit that he is still unable to open his eyelids.
Your financial contribution will:
• Pay for medical evacuation costs already incurred ($15,000)
• Retrieve his car currently in Brisbane.
• Assist in covering ongoing rehabilitation expenses.
• Medications
• Potential home modifications
• Allow his 61 year old wife to reduce her nursing hours for home care
Bruce does not have full time employment but has irregular casual employment.
Our Goal is $40,000
