Bromley Cricket Club - Beyond the Pandemic and the Next 200 Years
Our aim is to survive the pandemic to help all of our Junior Members to thrive and reach their full potential.
Bromley Cricket Club has been at the heart of our community for 200 years with 2020 marking out 200th Anniversary. It is a Community sports club run by ordinary people and volunteers, providing the local area with a venue to stay connected and the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits associated with playing sports. It has a current membership in excess of 900, over half of which belong to our Junior Members and access to a range of sports: cricket, tennis, table tennis, squash and racquetball.
Unfortunately, the current pandemic has led to the suspension of all sporting activities and the cancellation of all of the planned events to help celebrate our 200th Anniversary. Whilst some of our members are still continuing to pay their subscriptions - thank you - this has put Bromley Cricket Club into a serious financial position despite the best efforts of our Board. We rely solely on membership, pitch and court fees, sponsorship, the hiring out of our facilities, bar revenue and income generated from events such as those planned for our 200th anniversary - these income streams have all but dried up.
Although the effects of the pandemic on our community will be far reaching and many elements of our lives will be changed forever, one of the positive outcomes of the crisis is the resolve and compassion that is being shown by local communities. One of the main elements for many in our community is playing sport. Sport England identifies the benefits of Sport are built around a simple set of outcomes including physical and mental wellbeing. These outcomes have many far reaching benefits to the community as a whole and provides many youngsters with opportunities that they simply don’t have or can't access in other parts of their lives. Our ask of you is to help support the club financially through this crisis by making a donation - we can assure you that every single donation will be mightily treasured and used solely for the benefit of our Junior members.
