Rally for Allie - Help Bring Allie Home

Donation protected
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Allison “Allie” Abate Lotzkar, 28 year old mom of two, has been the most cautious person there is. A year into the pandemic and she was still taking every precaution she could to protect her loved ones and herself from this virus.

But as luck would have it, 38 weeks into her second pregnancy, Allie tested positive for COVID-19. We could not have predicted how the next few days would unfold.

After initially battling the virus in isolation at home, Allie went to the ER on 3/16 with difficulty breathing. It was discovered that she had developed double-lung COVID pneumonia and would need to be transferred to South Shore Hospital. By Thursday morning, Allie had an episode of respiratory distress resulting in an emergency C-section. Emmett Brooks Lotzkar was born at 3:04 AM on 3/18/2021, 7lbs and 13oz of perfection.

Emmett is safe and healthy, at home with his brother Miles, his Dad Ben and his Nana, Allie’s mom, Deirdre.

In the days since Emmett’s birth, Allie’s condition continued to worsen. She was unable to hold Emmett because she was not able to breathe on her own. In the early morning hours of Monday the 22nd, the decision was made by Allie’s care team to place her on a ventilator to let her body rest and heal, and transfer her to Brigham & Women’s hospital in Boston. This was devastating and terrifying news to hear when her entire family was expecting her home in the next few days.

Allie's medical team is very optimistic about her outcome and the slow but steady progress she is making every day. She is receiving world class care and attention to ensure she gets home to her boys as quickly as she possibly can.

Allie has a long, difficult road to full recovery. But we believe that if there is anyone in the world resilient enough to do it, it’s Allie. And when she is able and ready to come home, we want to ensure that she is not even more burdened by loss of income, medical debt, physical therapy bills, her mortgage, the cost of caring for two children under two, and more, so she can fully focus on her recovery, her health and her family without worry.

To know Allie is to love her. As her younger sister, it has been the joy of my life to watch her develop into the person, friend, daughter, wife, and mother that she so naturally is. She is the most dedicated mother to her two beautiful boys, Miles and Emmett, and the most loving wife to Ben, who has truly been a superhero throughout this entire process.

We all know she would do this for any of us.  Let's show up for her and make her transition home, when she is ready, as seamless as possible.

On behalf of myself, my brother Chris, my mom Deirdre, and Allie and Ben’s family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The financial burden is only one battle. We ask that if you have the space, please pray, manifest, or focus your energy towards Allie’s healing and coming home to her boys. We believe the power of thought, prayer and community will bring Allie home.
