WHAT IS ANASTASIA?
Anastasia is a heartfelt comedy-drama short film about search for freedom, home, and fleeting connections.
The film is set in Ithaca, NY, and tells the story of Sean, a young movie theater employee unsure of his future. A few days away from his planned departure from the town, he meets Anastasia, a mysterious college student from Russia carrying the weight of her powerful family’s expectations. Their encounter sparks a transformation for both of them.
At its core, the film is about finding yourself and your story in someone else, the bittersweet magic of a brief encounter, and the courage to step away from what’s holding you back. Themes of cultural identity, independence, and longing are woven into this story of two people whose paths unexpectedly cross.
