Help Our Urban Farm Support Chicago Communities
Donation protected
Help our urban farm support low-income communities in Chicago through food access initiatives!
Bridge & Bloom Farms needs your support! We are an upcoming urban farm located in Chicago, IL. Founded by Danika Jackson and Kathleen Valdez, our mission is to provide food to low-income families and food pantries primarily in the West and South sides of city. Neighborhoods we are focusing on are Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Pilsen, Bronzeville, and Edgewater/Uptown. We strive to break the barriers between people in these communities and access to fresh, affordable produce.
Our goal is to provide 15 to 20 shares for our four-month long community-supported agriculture program. Pricing will be on a sliding scale to create an affordable option. A portion of our crops and profits will be donated to the food pantries and other advocacy groups in the communities we work with. We will be building a community-minded platform for gardening, food, and farm outreach and education.
Our financial goal of $3000 will enable us to do the following:
- purchase start-up supplies (seeds, soil, low tunnels, tools, packaging, etc)
- help pay for greenhouse rental costs for growing seedlings
- help pay the first year of our land-lease agreement
- help pay for our business licensing costs
- Jump start our community outreach, donations + fundraising, and education initiatives
We are hoping to gather enough funds by May 1st, a month before our CSA program starts.
This will help build a solid financial foundation for our project, and your donation not only supports a local food business, but also the Chicago communities we serve. It would be a tremendous honor to receive your financial support for a vision that is possible with your help.
