Brent (Tex) and Betty Health Crisis

Hello, my name is Tami Stafford and my friend Tina Maloy are asking for help for our friends Betty and Brent (Tex) Scott. Betty and Brent have always been the friends you can count on, who live life from the heart. Always helping other people and never asking for anything in return. Recently due to Brent's medical issues they are struggling financially, mentally and overwhelmed with medical bills.

Brent's medical story started in 2015 when he had his first of 5 vascular surgeries on both of his legs. He has had a total of 4 arterial bypass surgeries over the years and most recently. On March 10th , 2024 Brent had a balloon treatment for 3 blockages in his right leg. This surgery gave him a STAPH infection and MRSA. He was hospitalized 4 times within 1 month, March to April, 2024. The STAPH infection attacked the main valve to his heart and he has to have antibiotic infusions daily for 6 weeks, maybe more.

Because of all Brent's surgeries and now the infection in his blood he cannot walk without a walker and sometimes can not walk at all. Because of this, Brent cannot work and Betty must be home to take care of him. Home Health will only come once a week and that is to change his dressings where the IV PICC line is in his arm.

Brent and Betty's home is not handicap accessible. They need to fix several doors and the door to a bathroom because he cannot go through with a walker or wheelchair. Their shower is not handicap accessible and needs to be fixed also. A ramp is needed as their house sits 5 steps above the ground. Betty has called several agencies to ask for help but is repeatedly told there is no funding. Brent's medical bills are coming in and they are astronomical. They have gone through their retirement and live on $900 a month social security and Brent's $ 1, 100 disability. This does not even cover their normal bills and are living as frugally as possible. Brent can not and may not ever be able to work again. Betty has to stay home and help him daily unable to work also. Any funds contributed will go to help with monthly bills, food, medicine, medical bills, making their home handicapped accessible and safe for Brent.

Tina and I would appreciate any monetary help, materials and professionals that may can help to make their home safe for Brent. Times are hard for everyone but even a $1 would help. Please help us help our friends.
