Help Bomani Attend Brown Univ SPARK Prog

Donation protected
I really appreciate your consideration in helping me attend this program that will prepare me for college and for life.

The Person
My name is Bomani Kopano, and I am an 8th grader at St. Paul's Middle/High School. I have recently been accepted to Brown University's pre-college SPARK science program for outstanding high school scholars. I have received straight A's and been involved with many school programs including student council and sports teams.

Facts About Me
*I LOVE baseball! My love can't be put into numbers. I've loved it since I was born!
I was one of four boys selected from the state of Maryland to participate in the Under Armor Baseball Factory Winter Classic national showcase in St. Petersburg, Florida.
*I have read about 1,000 books in my 13-year life span, and I've written many creative pieces.
*My favorite subjects are Science and Math.
*I love to eat, but I also love to cook!
*I'm a vegetarian, but I also eat seafood (especially lobster).
*I like playing video games.
*I love using computers, whether it's fixing problems or just using it.
*I like to be creative. I have made a baseball bat, a bench, mallets, a lamp and many other items through my school's woodshop program.

To prepare for further study in math and science, I've attended a summer camp through Johns Hopkins University's CTY (Center for Talent Youth), and I joined a CTY online class in which I studied pre-algebra. I also participated in JHU's Innoworks camp. Innoworks was a science camp where I studied all types of science.

I am a good fit for the SPARK Science camp because I attempt to be the most well rounded person that anyone could be. In the words of the famous poet George Santayana, "A child educated only at school is an uneducated child." This is why I want to learn not just at school, but also in life.

The Program
At Brown University, an Ivy League school, I have enrolled in a science program because I love science. My love for science started when I was a young child. Ever since I was young, my mom would work on science experiments with me. At a young age, I found science intriguing. One of the essential reasons that this camp is intriguing to me is that SPARK science will help me to see all sides of science, and it will assist me in becoming a better scientist and person. SPARK camp will also help me to decide what I want to do as a career.

As a Brown University Pre-College student, I will be joining people from all over the world to attend this 2- week residential program, so I know that I will get a good experience from both academics and interaction with my other camp mates. By attending this course I am preparing for college, and getting a college like experience. Another reason attending this camp is important is because I am getting an opportunity that no other family member of mine has had the chance to do. I will be the first person in my family to attend an Ivy League School. (If you have any questions about SPARK Science, the link is http://brown.edu/ce/pre-college/spark/)

The Plea

My challenge is that I need to raise money to help with the program costs. I am contributing money from my savings, and I'm also doing large tasks to help raise the money. I am reaching out to you to ask for help. I need to raise an additional $4000 by June 1. I am hoping that you will consider helping me with a donation. If you have any questions, please contact me through my page.
