For 20 years I directed church choirs in the Phoenix area. As with many professions, the downturn in the economy also had a negative effect on full-time pastoral music.
In January, I joined the ranks of the seriously underemployed, and began engaging the prospect of a total career change, applying for any and every job for which I thought I might qualify.
I still do some church music, but in many places what used to be a fulltime job is now part time or contract work.
In August, I started teaching at a music school not far from where we live in Buckeye. The school has expanded twice since opening 5 yrs ago. It is a wonderful place to teach (as well as to learn), and is also a great place to work. I am currently teaching about 35 students a week, and could eventually work my way up to full time hours, with 50 to 60 students.
Of course, I also keep up with the various sacred and secular part-time gigs, and I continue to seek other full or part time employment.
However, my recent increase in earnings simply comes too late. We are still struggling to catch up on rent and utilities.
We are asking for help with...
* A Last Christmas with Dad!
My wife, Michelle, needs to go see her father in Kansas. This is very likely his last Christmas here on earth. We are going to do this as inexpensively as possible, but I would like to get her and the kids out there to see him.
* Catching up with rent, electricity (APS) and water bills.
* Co-pays for some much needed dental work!

UPDATE: Interviews! At last! After months of searching, I finally have some interviews with a few different places for full time employment! So far, all of them have schedules that would also allow me to continue teaching and performing on the weekends. Thank you for your continued prayers. Bob.
