Help Blynn with Ray's medical cost
Donation protected
Well when things happen, life changes and it has changed for Blynn and Ray.
Ray is undergoing medical treatment for a tear in the area at the hamstring and tendon connection, an unusual location. There are some other minor tears as well in the hamstring muscle, along with a rear right toe strain. We believe that while Ray was running around in a yard, the foot got caught in/on something and, well, he just kept moving creating the trauma.
The very talented and dedicated team at Oregon State University’s veterinary teaching hospital in Corvallis, Oregon has created a cutting-edge treatment plan for Ray. The treatment includes PRP (platelet rich plasma), shockwave therapy (ESWT) and ultrasound. All of which will speed up the healing process and aid the tissue in realigning better than if left alone. All of this began with 10 days in hospital treatment. He returns in two weeks for repeat treatment and then will return for assessments and possible further treatment. He is restricted to leash walks and rest, a very hard thing for an active, engaged Border Collie.
Rehabilitation plans will be based on how he responds to the treatment. OSU has never seen this type of injury in a dog before. OSU will use Ray’s treatment and recovery to add to their instruction of current veterinary students. Although the injury is difficult, it is good to know that Ray will be contributing to veterinary science and that other dogs may benefit in the future.
Blynn and Ray are a remarkable agility team that exemplifies the team work and dog-human bond for which all agility competitors strive.
Blynn and Ray were members of the 2014A, 2015 and 2016 AKC team for the European Open events. In the 2015 EO individual jumpers round they were the highest scoring USA team.
Your donations will allow Blynn and Ray to continue down this path of remarkable recovery and, hopefully, back in the agility ring.
