Help Blue Heron Construct a Changing House

Blue Heron supporters, friends, and family, I am asking for your support in building a changing house near the sweat lodge where Blue Heron members and the wider community hold Inipi ceremonies year-round. This structure would offer reliable shelter for people to change and be in each other's company before and after ceremony regardless of the time of year or weather conditions.

 

This was a project my friend and brother, Bill Achord, initiated and was working on before he passed into the next world earlier this year. Bill was a Sun Dancer, a Pipe Carrier, and a compassionate man that would help anyone in need and held everyone in high, unconditional regard. He helped found Blue Heron. We miss him and mourn for his passing. We are coming together to realize his vision and complete this project in his honor.

 

Blue Heron has put $2000 toward a partial-payment with local builders for construction to begin early next year. We are asking for those we're in relationship with—or anyone who feels moved to contribute—to raise the remaining $6000 it will take to build a solid and lasting changing house that fits our needs and considerations of the land.

 

Anything we raise beyond $6000 will be used to replenish the Blue Heron treasury and to sustain our regular efforts including: holding ceremonial orientations and teachings, making offerings of honor to Native youth, supplying rocks to those currently incarcerated who are on the Red Road, covering regular maintenance and supply expenses, and offering aid in solidarity to those in community in need.
