Help Blair beat duonenal cancer
Donation protected
We are starting this Go Fund Me on behalf of our friend Blair Marshall. Blair is a devoted, hardworking family man, long time resident of Port Hardy and local business owner of Marshall’s Welding and most recently started a second business Glass Solutions.
Blair has undergone two years of being ill and having to juggle work, with constant time off, medical travel and stays in the hospital. A tumor in his bio duct was causing a blockage, which would cause jaundice due to the waste from his liver having nowhere to go. He has endured eight surgeries to replace a stent in the bio duct, through the pancreas leading to the gallbladder. It usually took four to six weeks to recover from the jaundice each time and it made him feel extemely lethargic with major weight loss.
If this isn’t enough to endure, Blair was recently diagnosed with Cancer of the Duodenum and must undergo a Whipple procedure to take place on July 10, 2017.
Just to give you some insight on what this surgery entails, whipple operation is a complicated procedure that removes the head of the pancreas, duodenum (first part of the intestines) gallbladder and bile duct and part of the stomach, then the system is re-connected. It is a very challenging surgery to tolerate and recover from. Blair will remain in the hospital for some time before returning home. When he is capable of being discharged, Blair’s recovery will continue at home for an unknown amount of time, then Chemotherapy will begin. This will require his wife Tanya to cease working completely to look after him.
We are kindly asking for your support to help ease the financial burden at this very difficult, uncertain stressful time. Any amount you can contribute will be very much appreciated.
