Help a neurodivergent Black trans couple survive the summer.

Jae is a graphic designer who’s been diligently looking for work for 6 months after being fired by a homophobic and otherwise abusive boss. TK is a chronically ill writer and editor who lost their job due to mental health issues. TK is working hard to find a new position, but their health makes it difficult to find a job that accommodates their needs. They’re seeking funds needed to get caught up on late expenses & survive the summer months.

Their complex recently changed ownership & increased rent; starting in July, their rent will be $960. As they’re both unemployed & without steady income, the goal is to ensure that expenses are covered for at least three months.

 

Jae recently had their phone stolen, making it extremely difficult to search for jobs. To get a new phone, they’d need to clear their T-Mobile account balance, including a past due monthly fee for the stolen device and the remaining leasing fee. Their monthly plan would decrease dramatically if they also pay down the lease for their other device, an iPad used for graphic design and job communication. The goal is to pay off the entire balance to obtain a new phone & a more affordable monthly plan–from $200 a month to $40.

 

Jae uses a service for medical care that allows them to get checkups, bloodwork, and HRT, but they’re $280 past due in payments. They currently pay $138 monthly until the price lowers in Oct. to $90.

 

These costs, plus the costs of monthly insurance, food/toiletries, meds for TK, support animal costs, gas costs, etc., can be broken down as seen below:

 

3 months rent: $2880

3 months TK meds: $1200

3 months groceries & toiletries: $900

T-mobile balance: $880

3 months of Jae’s medical service plan: $694

3 months of power bill: $450

3 months of car insurance: $330

3 months credit card payments: $300

3 months monthly subs: $150

3 months TK cell phone: $150

3 months support animal costs: $150

3 months gas bill: $120

3 months internet bill: $111

 

This totals to $8,315. To account for fees GFM takes per each donation & in transferal fees, we’ve added $200, bringing the total goal up to $8515.
