Dre, the co-designer/Co-owner of our brand WASIL began his FTM transition last summer. Despite losing his insurance just one month before his top surgery, he worked his ass off to get himself the life saving surgery he desperately needed.
The entire surgery cost was out of pocket, and he had to begin a payment plan to move forward with the procedure; one he’s been paying off ever since. Dre grew up poor in a single mother household in Richmond/Berkeley, and has been not only supporting himself, but his family since the day he turned 18. Working 80-100 hour work weeks for years, until COVID hit and he lost his job. While unemployment was manageable, with the lack of further COVID relief, he is drowning in medical bills and credit card debt (which he has been using to survive since he lost his job in May).
Though I try my best to help him financially, I simply do not make enough to give him the relief he desperately needs right now. After months of denying asking for help from our community, he has finally accepted that he can’t do this alone.
THIS IS A CALL ON THE COMMUNITY! Please donate and share as much as you can, please help Dre get to a place financially where he’s not being harassed by collection agencies, and can begin to rebuild his credit from this disastrous year. In order to receive immediate relief, he needs $5,000 to clear Kaiser collections, and $10,000+ for other debilitating debts. Right now though, he is looking for any help at all to alleviate the medical bills first and foremost.

All profits go directly to our day to day expenses like groceries, gas, laundromat trips, etc. I personally am doing everything I can to expand the brand to be able to fully support him so he can avoid going back to work as an immunocompromised person.
