Help Billy Heal

In June of 2017 Billy Mathews was let go from his job after 30+ years due to downsizing.  He couldn't search for work because of health issues that were finally determined to require serious abdominal surgery. Without any income or health insurance Billy negotiated the hospital stay to $38,000 and paid  $14,000 in advance after cashing out his pension.  That did not include the doctors' bills.

The health issues were much more complicated than initially thought and require more surgery later this summer or fall - if he can find a specialist who will treat him and work out the hospital cost.  His doctor recommended finding a job and getting insurance, except his health issues make finding a job difficult and insurance that will cover a pre-existing condition even harder.

Right now the outstanding medical bills are the urgent issue because he had to be readmitted to the hospital after the surgery because of an infection. Those two days in the hospital were not pre-negotiated. He doesn't have a final bill yet, but it will likely be near $100,000 before negotiating with the providers. His ability to negotiate those costs down will be enhanced if he is able to make a cash offer.
