Big Eye Arts & Culture Centre and Aunty Ros need our help with street signage and marketing materials! Support the only Blak owned and run Arts & Culture Centre in Townsville.
Aunty Ros and her amazing volunteer team set up Townsville’s only Indigenous owned and run Arts & Culture Centre. Since acquiring the lease on the building late last year, Aunty Ros has done the basic fit-out of the space but she needs funds to get signage up on the facade of their building and to market the arts centre and their programs.
What is the Big Eye Arts & Culture Centre?
It is an Indigenous Arts and Culture business that showcases, promotes and preserves Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art, Culture and Stories. The centre has a shop, a gallery and a flexible studio and outdoor area. Big Eye produces and hosts the Townville Blak Art Markets every second Saturday. Every Thursday they run a Cultural food day for the general public to enjoy Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dishes while meeting and getting to know artists and performers who work with the centre. Artists can create art on site and offer regular workshops. They also run arts and cultural education for schools and workspaces.

Who is Aunty Ros?
Aunty Ros is an Aboriginal Arts leader who has lived and worked in Townsville for 40 years. Born in Cloncurry, she is Kuku Yalanji through her father's rainforest country and on her mother’s side she is Waanji of Boodjimala Park. Aunty Ros has been working tirelessly in the arts for 30 years. She also runs the Big Eye Theatre.
What will this campaign pay for?
Big Eye need help to get ready for the tourism high season. They are perfectly positioned to gather new audiences: right near the ferry terminal to Yunbenun (Magnet Island) and across the road from the Museum of Tropical Queensland, but they desperately need street signage and façade art to activate the foot traffic of their amazing location!

Who is running this campaign?
This campaign is run and managed by Professional Arts North Queensland (PANQ). PANQ is an incorporated association that advocates for arts and culture in North Queensland. Its membership is made up of representatives from key arts organisation, individual artists and artworkers in the region. We are working directly with Big Eye to create the campaign.

- A digital and print marketing campaign targeting North Queensland residents and tourists visiting the region.
Any additional funds raised will go towards operation costs and minor equipment used to run the centre.

Why us?
One of PANQ's key priorities is to support and advocate for First Nations arts and culture in North Queensland. We are keen to use our organisational networks and encourage our audiences to support Big Eye Arts and Culture Centre. It is so important to have an Indigenous platform like Big Eye in our dynamic North Queensland arts and cultural landscape.
