Help Bieke’s cancer fight ❤️

Donation protected

I’d like to tell you about my brave friend Bieke, “Bibi” who was diagnosed with cancer last April.
Bieke has a cancer tumour in her leg , having had no suggestion of cancer prior to that date.

Her diagnosis happened at the same time as the COVID 19 disaster.
It started with a lump in her leg that was growing rapidly.
After going to the doctors/hospital several times it kept getting misdiagnosed as a muscle strain.
Eventually she decided to pay out of her own pocket to go to a private hospital for a scan.
Here it was diagnosed as a tumour that will need to be removed, but not before having to go through intensive bouts of chemotherapy to shrink it.

Now the rollacoaster of cancer begins....

Although there is no right time for a diagnosis, can you imagine going through all this at the same time as trying to comfort your children through lockdown and being out of routine? Healthcare facilities being stretched, the world on edge?

It has already been a scary journey and the fight is not won yet, but she is facing it with great determination and her infectious smile always on her face, full of positivity.

She is very motivated to turn this into a positive and wants to tell her story to the world, just to break taboos and help other patients to keep up their morale. She’s showing the good and bad times, but always with her positivity. You can follow her on Instagram: kankermoeder_op_flip_flops

She has had to do most of her hospital consultations alone and has been eternally thankful that her parents were here at the time of lockdown and made the decision to stay on to help support her and the children through this.
As a single mum, she wouldn’t have been able to do this without their help.

Unfortunately, she has had to take time off work for her treatment and has now been put on government pay.
This means her salary is cut to less then half.
She is incredibly hardworking, very proud and would never reach out for help, but having bills to pay and needing to provide for her children during this crisis, it is really putting a strain on her when she should be focusing on getting better for her children. It breaks my heart to see her worry about these things on top of everything else she is facing. She knows she has friends and family that will have her back, but I know she is a proud lady and doesn’t want to rely on them.

Already, a huge thank you all for all of the generosity and love towards Bieke and her family. It is greatly appreciated and she has felt truly spoilt through this difficult time, she has told me over and over again how much love she has received from all her friends and her lovely family.

If Bieke, or her family, have touched your life in any positive way and you wish to help, however small, I would welcome your contribution. This would help to ease the burden through these difficult and uncertain times.

Much love and eternal gratitude for taking the time to read this and for any donations received, I can’t begin to tell you how much this means to me as a friend and to them as a family.
