Help Beverley Get Back On Her Feet

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Julie and I’ve known Beverley for a few years now and have always been impressed at her indomitable spirit and joy for life…in fact she is known as Aunty Bubbly for her bubbly personality.  So when she rang me recently to say that she had fallen on hard times and needed help or she would be evicted from her home I knew I had to help.

Beverley is 77, widowed with no family or children to support her and lives in a tiny bedsit in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. She loves nothing more than to bring joy to others and lift them up either through her empowering workshops she runs or shining the spotlight on others through her social media.

But in October 2019 Beverley had a fall while overseas and broke her hip. The surgery in an overseas hospital had to be redone after complications set in upon her return home.

Months of rehabilitation and learning to walk again meant that Beverley’s ability to earn money from her business dried up and she had to take out a loan to cover her medical costs.

Beverley is no quitter and when she finally got back on her feet and started to get her business going again, then covid hit and the events she had organised to grow her business were cancelled at last minute due to snap lockdowns, causing further financial duress at lost deposits and lost income she was counting on.

Unfortunately, Beverley was one of those businesses that fell through the cracks of the Government assistance packages for covid relief.

Her landlord graciously allowed her to stay in her tiny home for the past 6 months while she attempted to get back on her feet financially but hurdle after hurdle has thwarted her deep desire to be able to pay all the back rent she owes as well as the outstanding loans and it’s not that easy to get a job at 77 years of age – and yes, she has been applying as she wants to do whatever she can!

The Costs

With only a tiny pension that just covers her basic needs without paying off debt, Beverley is at great risk of being homeless if we don’t help now.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 in the next 30 days which would cover:

$3995 for the back rent she owes her landlord,

$5150 for the loan she took out to cover her medical expenses and

$5855 for the loans from friends to keep her afloat due to covid

I know that times are tough and any amount that you can donate will make a massive difference regardless of whether it is $5, $50 or $500.

Let’s get her back on her feet financially so she keep a roof over her head!
