We’re trying to help our best friend Mandy and little Bensyn. Most of you know he was a rescue that Mandy bought sight unseen several years ago. What she didn’t know was that this little horse was on deaths door when she opened the trailer door. Despite the vets opinion, a lot of TLC helped him turn around.
Even though Beni made a full recovery, he’s been plagued with colics (and one severe eye ulcer!) almost yearly and no one has realty been able to figure out why. This little free horse has cost a pretty penny!
3 weeks ago he was admitted to OVC for the first time with colic like symptoms, only to have two subsequent trips back and our regular vet out three times as well. He is currently still at OVC with no concrete diagnosis- they have done ultrasounds, belly fluid tap, blood work, stomach scope, bladder scope, rectal exams. He is currently on steroids in hopes it will treat his inflamed bowel but as of Saturday night (Sept 15) he’s still showing some signs of general pain, which means he’s in for more tests in the coming week. Because of his history, Bensyn does not have medical insurance so all the vets can do is keep testing in hopes of finding something. His bill increases everyday but we’re not ready to go down without a fight.
Please help us show Beni and Mandy how much you love them and want him to keep fighting! The little horse that could. No amount is too small.
