Help Benny Beat Cancer

Benny became a member of our family at 6 months old when we adopted him from the Dunedin Doggie Rescue. His life up until then had been a rough one as he showed signs of abuse and was living on the streets. Even though his first months of life were less than ideal, he was still full of hope and was ready to be loved. That was almost 6 years ago.  He is a friend, a companion, and more than just a dog or pet, he is a loved one to our family.

On February 9th, 2018 and what was supposed to be a routine veterinary checkup & vaccination visit, resulted in the discovery of a mass on Benny near his tail. A biopsy was performed and on February 13th, 2018 we received the devastating news that Benny was diagnosed with Mast Cell Cancer, also commonly known as Mastocytoma. A few days after the diagnosis, we met with the surgeon to discuss the removal of the mass, and a second one was found on his left shoulder. We are still awaiting to discover if the second tumor is also cancer. He is scheduled for surgery to have the tumor/s removed February 22nd, 2018. After this, we will begin radiation therapy to help give him a fighting chance. The cost for the tumor removal alone is exceeding $2,000 and the radiation can cost an upwards of $6,000-$10,000. Although it is a hardship on our family, we are trying everything we can to find the funds to save our family member.  We are humbly asking for any and all help that can be contributed. We will also post updates on Benny’s hard road ahead of him.
