Help the TACOLCY Center Grow a Community Garden

Beschermde donatie
We're developing a community garden at the Belafonte TACOLCY Center and we need your help to bring it to life! The garden will be an outdoor classroom and source of nourishment for the community.

Our current goal is to fundraise $3,000 before May 1, 2025 to purchase raised corrugated metal garden beds, mulch for paths, native plants to line the paths, and fruit and vegetable starters.

TACOLCY serves kids and pretty much all community members in Liberty City, one of Miami’s historically Black (primarily African American and Haitian) neighborhoods. We are planning to launch the Garden on June 1 as an outdoor classroom with a pollinator learning space for kids and functioning fruit and vegetable beds. The Garden is designed to flourish with native plants and 3D-printed hydroponics designed by students in TACOLCY's Fab Lab

About the Garden
Hi! I'm Sarah. I started volunteering with at the TACOLCY garden in 2024 through Repair the World. I'm now leading the effort to finish/launch the garden, which has been a joy.

We've done a lot of work so far - clearing the space, managing pests, leveling the soil, removing trees and invasive species, fortifying the fencing (pesky iguanas!) - and now we're focusing on finishing key areas before summer programming starts!
