On May 3rd, Shaina noticed a lump under her son Drew’s chin, and immediately sprung into action. After several scary weeks, multiple tests, puzzled doctors, and an initial surgery to remove the mass, Shaina and Will received the devastating news that Drew has Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer found in children.
Drew will undergo a second critical surgery on June 15th to have the cancerous lump removed. Afterward, he will begin chemotherapy and receive radiation in hopes of removing any microscopic traces of the cancer. The doctors estimate he will need about one year of chemotherapy and possibly radiation.
As most of you know already, Shaina and Will have an amazing family. In the coming weeks and months, they are going to need a lot of support from those around them. For starters – their new daughter Lali who is only 6 months old will need childcare throughout this time. Days will be taken off of work, bills will need to be paid, gas, groceries, and general life expenses. This fund is to allow Shaina and Will to focus on Drew’s care and recovery with as little added stress as possible. Any support will be greatly appreciated.
