Help Baby Atziri Get Surgery

This is Julio, Katy, and baby Atziri (waiting to be born). They live in Guatemala.
Katy's recent fetal ultrasound shows that Atziri has a congenital spinal defect called a myelomeningocele. This is a severe form of spina bifida, where the spine and spinal cord do not close properly before the birth. It can cause paralysis, inability to control bowel/bladder function, infections, and can even be fatal without medical treatment.
To give their daughter the best chance at life, they need to deliver in a hospital with a neonatal intensive care unit, modern equipment, and most importantly, a neurosurgeon. Atziri will need to receive surgery within a couple days of her birth.
The estimated cost of these medical services is $10,000 US dollars. This is more than their family makes in a year.
Guatemala does not have the same resources for charity care as the United States, and if they are unable to raise this money, Atziri will not get the medical care she needs.
