09/03 UPDATE ~ My family has been hit with covid. We are Quarantined and out of work for the next 2 weeks and battling this crazy sickness. Please keep us in your prayers and.
William "Liam" Michael Martin was born on 05/28/2020. Liam is having some issues with low blood sugars, breathing, and eating. Right now Liam will not eat on his own. He needs to be able to eat 65ml per feeding for him to get the proper nutrition for his brain. Liam is also having a problem with an underdeveloped flapper which can cause choking or death. They have put in a feeding tube to make sure he does get the correct amount of food and to also ensure he does not have any brain issues. Since we could not get his medical issues under control in Grants Pass Liam was taken to Medford to the NICU so that they can do more tests and see if they can figure out what is going on with him, this may take up to a few weeks.
Due to covid and my work schedule Liam's mom and grandma are with him. Not being able to be in the hospital with my newborn and wife is extremely hard. Please send him prayers, good vibes.
We just want our little guy to be okay and come home to meet the rest of the family.
Donations will be used to cover medical expenses that are not covered by insurance and expenses for care once he is home. We have a long road ahead of us.
Liam was home for a week and a half and ended up getting admitted back into the hospital with a very bad ECOLI infection. Liam spent 2 additional weeks in the pediatric unit of the hospital undergoing many tests including a spinal tap, covid test and lots of blood draws. We were lucky to have caught this when we did. If we had waited 24 hrs Liam may have died. The infection could have entered his spine and brain.
We are at over $380K in medical bills for both of these stays. Our insurance is covering everything but $30K
