Update: Thanks to your support, Aya’s sick mother and 4 year old brother have safely made it to Egypt, and are receiving the treatment they need. Hello, and thank you for visiting my fundraiser. My name is Aya, and I’m a sixth year medical student from Gaza. Six years ago, I tearfully left my beloved family and home to study medicine in Egypt. The calamity that has befallen my family over the past 6 months is impossible to describe. Our house, which we’d invested years of labor and love in building, was bombed, and only part of my family was rescued from under the rubble. My surviving relatives have since been displaced six times, and now share a tent in Rafah. Conditions in their tent camp are highly unsanitary, and the fact that 15 of my relatives are sharing a single tent further worsens the risk of disease afflicting them. The tent is also quite fragile, and can easily get destroyed or sink when it rains.
I want more than anything in this world to rescue all my surviving relatives, but my
sick mother, brother & father are my first priority for now. My mother, whose health has been fragile for decades, now weighs just 44 kilograms. We have raised almost enough funds to evacuate her, but she cannot evacuate alone, especially in her condition. Additionally, my 4 year old brother has contracted hepatitis A due to malnutrition and the contaminated water supply. I urgently need to evacuate them both, along with my comparably healthy father, before their condition becomes terminal.
As of March 16, 2024, I have raised $4370 on my gogetfunding campaign for my mother( https://gogetfunding.com/help-me-evacuate-my-critically-ill-mother-out-of-gaza/ ). With this campaign, I aim to raise $2,000 to evacuate my four year old brother, $5000 to evacuate my father, and $5,000 to evacuate my other brother. These funds will cover the evacuation fees demanded by the Hala Agency, which manages all evacuations from Gaza to Egypt.
