Support Axl's fight against a rare Leukemia
Donation protected
Dear friends,
This is my nephew, Axl. He is the beautiful, smart, funny, 8-year-old son of my sister, Leanne, and her husband, Chad. He loves to play hockey, ski, mountain bike, and play with his older brother, Kai.
On Nov. 12, Axl Was diagnosed with 2 types of leukemia, or MPAL (Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia). This is a very rare condition that represents only 3-5% of acute leukemias. His family lives in Nelson, BC, but has had to relocate to Vancouver Children’s Hospital where they will be staying for an indeterminate amount of time (but a minimum of seven months) while he is undergoing aggressive and sustained treatment, including intense chemo, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. He is the bravest soul I know. This family has endured so much already, and has a long road ahead. Axl was so sad to learn that he won’t be going to school this year, and he longs to be back home.
I am starting this Go Fund Me page in hopes to raise funds to help ease the burden of some of their lost income, and cover some of their expenses while they walk through this devastating and crucial time, living far from home and going between Vancouver Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House. My hope is that they can put all of their energy into caring for Axl. I invite you to contribute and support this special family with a donation of any size.
Thank you for your love and support.
