Nous somme Charlotte et Awoke. Nous nous sommes rencontrés il y a 8 ans alors que Charlotte qui est française, voyageait en Ethiopie. Depuis nous sommes devenus amis et avons gardé contact au fur et à mesure des années.
Moi, Awoke, j'ai 22 ans et suis en dernière année au Lycée d'Awra Amba. Je suis né et ai grandi à Awra Amba, une communauté unique basée sur des principes égalitaires qui se consacre à développer la paix en Ethiopie et dans le monde.
Je vais bientôt commencer mes études en Inde et suis à la recherche de sponsors.
Moi, Charlotte, j'ai 46 ans et suis artiste, guide et conteuse à Paris. J'ai décidé d'aider Awoke en payant une partie de ses frais d'inscription à l'université et en créant cette campagne de financement participatif.
Pour mes 4 années d'études, Moi, Awoke, j'ai besoin de 6300 euros. Charlotte a déjà payé 500 euros, il reste donc 5700 euros à trouver. Avec 5700 euros, je serais capable de payer les frais de scolarité, le logement et la nourriture.

We are Charlotte and Awoke. We met 8 years ago as Charlotte who is French was travelling accross Ethiopia. Since there we are friends and stay in touch through the years.
I, Awoke, am a 22 year-old senior in the Awra Amba Comprehensive Secondary School. I was born and raised in Awra Amba, a unique community that practices egalitarian principles and is dedicated to peaceful coexistence in Ethiopia and the world
I'm about to start my studies in India and I'm seeking for funding.
I, Charlotte, am a 46 years old artist, a museum guide and a storyteller living in Paris. I decide to help Awoke by paying part of the inscriptions fees and creating with him this crowfunding campaign.
For my 4 years of studies, I, Awoke, need 6300 euros . Charlotte has already paid 500 euros so there is 5700 (about 6900 US dollars) to find. With 5700 euros, I will be able to pay the fees, the dorm and the food.

Charlotte and Awoke
"Awra Amba is a small village in northern Ethiopia with about 540 members. My father is one of the founders of this community. When I turned 7 years and old enough to join the elementary school, I attended something like a kindergarten which was not well organized because there was no elementary school nearby the village. The older students traveled 12 kilometers to the nearest town for school. Both my parents being non-literate, I wasn’t able to get home schooling. I was already 9 when the government built an elementary school in the village. In spite of the difficulties of starting late and getting the necessary equipment and facilities at the school, I was able to catch up and earn good grades throughout. I have been one of the three most outstanding students of my class through elementary, middle and secondary schools.
As a senior in high school I should have completed my matriculation now. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I haven’t yet taken the final national school leaving examination.
I am interested in physics, technical drawing (TD), biology, chemistry and math. I especially love technical drawing and spend all of my free time studying design ideas and experimenting with different designs. My highest score in class is in TD. My teacher told me many times that I am good at it and can be a good designer.
It is my wish to go to college and to study to become a civil engineer and architect. As more and more urbanization expands around the country, I see how it is affecting natural habitats and the environment. People have destroyed forests and other natural environments to replace them with concrete homes and high rises. This is especially true in a developing nation like Ethiopia. When I was a child, everything I saw in my surroundings was green and the mountains were covered by trees. But everything has changed. No trees, no water and no wild animals. I want to be part of the future that will make designs that will reverse this phenomenon.
The first architect whose work I have heard about when I was a child is Zaha Hadid. She is my role model. I am also studying the work and I like the ideas of Jean Nouvel and Frank Lloyd Wright who are known for their work on sustainable architecture. I believe I can achieve similar things because I can see the potential in me to do great things.
I spend a lot of time sketching outside class, because art is the only thing that inspires me. I participate as a junior member of the team that is working on a master plan for the urban planning and design of the Awra Amba community.
I also participate in health and environmental protection club of the village, and in voluntary activities such as tutoring students who are below my grade.
Awra Amba, my village, is one of the tourist destinations in Ethiopia not for its historical heritage but for its unique way of life. The Awra Amba community is all about freedom and promoting peace for the world. They are showing the world by living with each other in harmony and cooperation. I would like to be part of the generation that will create a beautiful and prosperous environment that will lift us out of survival mode and make it possible for us to share our way of life with the rest of the world. "
