Support Ashley with Overcoming Medical Challenges

I am Ashley's mother and am reaching out to seek support for Ashley during a challenging time. As many of you know, Ashley has been struggling with a number of medical issues, which have gotten worse with each time she has had Covid. While in College, Ashley was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) which is a neurological disorder. There is little known about POTS, other than it progresses with time and significantly affects the neurological and cardiovascular systems. There are limited treatments to slow the progress and no cures for POTS. Over the past 2 years she has been diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS,) Visceral Hypersensitivity and Gastroparesis. As a result, she is dependent upon daily tube feeding and IV infusions. She is experiencing extreme fatigue, crippling abdominal pain, food intolerance, low energy, depression which are limiting her quality of life. She struggles daily to have the energy and strength to maintain her employment as a Physical Therapist. At end of her work day she can barely function, and spends her weekends sleeping/resting so that she can make it through the next work week.

Ashley has a team of medical professionals that she has been working with. They are concerned about her health and want her to seek a higher level of care, which is only available out of State. With the goal being to identify foods and drinks that she can tolerate with medical oversight to wean from and remove the feeding tube. The medical facility will have a specialized unit for such needs.

With this said, Ashley will likely be at the facility for 2-3 months, depending on her progress. She will be out of work and without income during that time. While out of work, she will need to cover 100% of the monthly cost of her employer offered health insurance, which will only cover 80% of the inpatient treatment.

Ashley has achieved a lot for her young age and continues to have many goals, asking for help is not something that Ashley wants or likes doing. Therefore, on her behalf and with her permission, I have set up the GoFundME, to help support her through this time of no income. She will need help to pay for her monthly insurance premiums, medical bills; past, current, and future bills from the inpatient stay at the hospital, and maintaining her mortgage payments, so she has her home to come back to. The financial support will allow her to focus on the needed treatment so that she can get better and not be dependent on tube feedings for staying alive for the rest of her life. She is too young and has so much more to give, offer and achieve.
