Anjali is on oral chemotherapy at the moment for treating brain metastasis. The recent follow-up showed reduction in size of the tumor in the brain!
Oncologist suggested to continue oral chemotherapy until no further evidence of the disease exists and then further maintenance therapy.
Anjali, our beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Cardinoma Breast Cancer with an aggressive HER2 mutation. She has fought courageously against this disease and battled through many treatments since the day of diagnosis in October of 2015 which has completely halted her career and dented her health. By end of 2016, she had undergone 18 chemotherapy sessions, 25 radiation sessions, multiple surgeries, and numerous other visits to the ER battling this disease with great courage and determination.
While we were hoping and praying for her to get back to her normal cheerful self, her health took a turn for a worse as the cancer appeared again, this time in her brain a.k.a. Brain Metastasis.
The cancerous lesion in her brain was removed and then Anjali underwent multiple sessions of brain radiation. In the last few weeks, she has been recovering from the surgery but fighting hard against the many severe side effects that still linger on which have unfortunately rendered her bed ridden.
When we thought chemotherapy was over, Anjali has to now undergo an additional 25 cycles over the next 24 months with a more advanced chemotherapy, Kadcyla, which has the potential to save her life by preventing future re-appearances of cancer (and also about 4,000 USD per dosage).
Anjali is an amazing, very affectionate, and caring daughter, sister, and friend to so many and one of the most lovable people I have ever met. She always carries a sweet smile, no matter what she is going through in her life.
While we have been able to handle the financial expenses of all the previous treatments, the expenses of additional prescribed chemotherapy sessions are far beyond what we can afford at this point.
It is our humble and sincere request to help Anjali continue her battle to beat breast cancer, and survive this evil disease. Your financial support will help to cover the expenses for chemotherapy, ER visits, and other essential medicine and support to help her have a fighting chance through this time. Above all, it gives her another shot at life and get Anjali back up on her feet.
