Help Andrew Kick Cancer's Butt!!

Donation protected
My family was once again reminded of how precious life truly is, and how quickly things can change.    Around Thanksgiving, my brother in law Andrew began to notice  increased pressure in his bottom/back.  After several trips to his general practitioner, he received a referral to a GI specialist, and was seen the day after Christmas.  On January 26th, Andrew had a colonoscopy that revealed a mass in his rectum.  Biopsies were taken and Amanda and Andrew were told it could be a cancerous lesion.   February 1st, they received the pathology report and found that it was a high grade malignant neuroendocrine tumor.   A CT scan was done on February 3rd that showed that the cancer had metastasized to his sacrum as well as his liver, meaning this had progressed to a stage IV cancer.  On Wednesday, February 7th, they met with a Surgical Oncologist and a Medical Oncologist for treatment options, and Andrew was admitted that morning to Froedtert Hospital to begin his journey of fighting this aggressive cancer. The pain from the tumor and bone lesion was debilitating and the doctors wanted to get the other symptoms and pain under control more quickly.  The next day Amanda and Andrew met with a Radiation Oncologist.  It was decided to begin radiation therapy that afternoon for a total of 5 consecutive daily radiation treatments right away before the Chemo was to start on February 12th for 3 days of treatments.  Since the cancer has metastasized to his liver the doctors are watching his labs very closely and monitoring his liver and kidney functions to make sure his body is handling the chemo appropriately. His chemotherapy cycles will be 3 days of treatment every 21 days.  Every cycle will affect him differently and they don’t know how his body will react, but they were told that he would likely feel like he had the “flu” on days 5-12, and his blood counts/immune system would be lowest on days 10-16.  Unfortunatley, Drew is unable to return to work for several months per his doctors orders! Andrew has a long road of extensive treatment and therapies ahead of him!!! For those that don't know Amanda and Andrew are expecting their 3rd baby (baby boy) :) at the end of July.  Amanda works as RN at Froedert Hospital and will continue to work as much as she can while attending appointments with Drew and trying to keep life as normal as possible for Aiden and Addison.  We are ALL cheering Drew on and have no doubt that he will beat this, but we know its not going to be easy!!  The Kelly family has had an overwhelming number of requests as to how they can help. They are humbled by the amount of support they have received thus far.  We have set up this page for those that are able to donate to help relieve the burden of medical bills and the inability to work. Please considering blessing their family in any way that you can; prayers, healing thoughts and encouraging words are all greatly appreciated!  Thank you ALL SO much for all the love and support!!!

Please donate through the Gofundme page as donations that are made through the  "CaringBridge" page don't actually go directly to the Kelly Family.
