Help Andrea Fight Her Astrocytoma

Donation protected
Hello everyone. As most of you know by now, Andrea had surgery to remove her brain tumour on November the 9th at Sudbury Health Sciences.  Like the true champion she is, she did remarkably well and continues to recover with no deficits.

This alone is wonderful news, however, her prognosis is not.  It's not her biggest fear which was a glioblastoma, but unfortunately, she is not out of the woods.   Her diagnosis is a Grade 2 Astrocytoma.  We are still waiting for the final pathology report to provide a more precise diagnosis and detailed method of treatment, but it will be a long road to recovery.

"Diffuse Astrocytoma is a slow-growing brain tumour that although currently non-cancerous, will eventually return as cancer at some point down the road.  The timeline is different for everyone, but regardless of whether it returns in one-three or five years from now, it always does."

This is why  Andrea will be starting treatment consisting of chemo and radiation as soon as possible.  The goal of treatment is to prevent that one cell from spreading and giving her the best possible chance of long-term survival.  As a mother to an only child, a daughter, a sister, and a wonderful friend, we want to be part of her to fight.

You can read more about her type of tumour here:  https://braintumorcenter.ucsf.edu/condition/diffuse-astrocytoma-grade-ii

We KNOW that Andrea is going to fight this bastard with every fiber of her being, and she will adopt the healthiest lifestyle to do it.  She already is, but she can't do it alone.   As a part-time RN she is going to need our help, as she does not qualify for any financial aid or health benefits.

For the next 12 months, Andrea is going to need to put all her energy, focus, and attention into treatment and healing.  With her initial 6 weeks of continuous treatment starting soon, she will need to be in Toronto full-time for 6-8 weeks, and then an additional week per month for 12 months thereafter.

With that said, we, her family and friends, felt the need to reopen the Go Fund Me in an effort to assist with the enormous upcoming travel, accommodation and food costs.  We want Andrea and her family to suffer as little as possible and to fight this life-altering diagnosis as long as is necessary.

Please help us raise funds to cover some of these life expenses while she fights what is going to be the biggest fight of her life.
