Help an innocent accident victim recover his life

On Superbowl Sunday night in Langford, a terrifying car accident sent a vehicle driver and passenger to hospital with serious injuries after they sped head-on into our neighbour’s car, parked legally in front of his house. Excessive speed and several other factors led to the crash, which vaulted the parked car through a driveway and into a garden next door (as seen in the photo). Both vehicles were totaled in this collision, and a huge thank you to all of the RCMP, Ambulance, and Langford Fire personnel who attended the scene.

There was however a third victim in this case. Our neighbour Shawn, a single father of two, the owner of the parked car, has had his life turned upside down. While trying to save money during Covid, he removed the optional ICBC insurance that covers these kinds of accidents. As the driver was uninsured and apparently unlicensed, ICBC has thrown up their hands and is offering no help at all. For having absolutely no part in the accident whatsoever, he has lost his vehicle, and his means of transporting his kids, and getting to work. He has also been told that he is responsible for all of the towing and lot charges associated with removing his wrecked vehicle from the scene. His only option is a private legal case which would cost thousands in legal fees, with a minimal chance of recovering his losses.

Our goal is to help raise funds for a reliable replacement vehicle so that he may get his life back in order and continue to be a great father to his children, and a valued employee. Thank you very much for reading, and for your support of this worthy cause.
